Marrakech and the coast

A suggested 7-day outline with two bases and space between plans.

Assumptions

This seven-day sketch gives Marrakech three nights and Essaouira three nights. It assumes arrival in Marrakech and a workable departure near Essaouira. It does not include a return to Marrakech airport. The day plans are suggestions; seasonal fit, services and individual access needs still need checking.

Your day-by-day outline

  1. Arrival

    Day 1 · Marrakech

    Overnight: Marrakech

Arrive, reach your accommodation and settle in. Keep the rest of the day open.

  2. Exploring

    Day 2 · Marrakech

    Overnight: Marrakech

Make this your medina day. Choose one architectural visit to investigate, such as Bahia Palace, and leave room for a walk and a meal. Confirm admission before treating the visit as fixed.

  3. Exploring

    Day 3 · Marrakech

    Overnight: Marrakech

Choose a different side of Marrakech: a garden such as Menara, or time in Gueliz. Keep this separate from yesterday’s medina plans rather than trying to complete a list of sights.

  4. Travel day

    Day 4 · Essaouira

    Overnight: Essaouira

Move to Essaouira. Treat this as a travel day, including checkout, the journey and settling in. Confirm a workable service before reserving this sequence.

  5. Exploring

    Day 5 · Essaouira

    Overnight: Essaouira

Use your first full coastal day for the medina and an unhurried meal. Leave the waterfront for another outing if that makes the day more comfortable.

  6. Exploring

    Day 6 · Essaouira

    Overnight: Essaouira

Make time for the waterfront and the harbour area where access is permitted. If returning to Marrakech for your flight, replace this day with that move and change the overnight booking.

  7. Departure

    Day 7 · Essaouira

    Overnight: No overnight included

Leave space for your departure arrangements. This outline assumes departure near the final base; a return to your arrival airport needs extra time.

Transport and travel-time assumptions

For the Marrakech–Essaouira coach leg, a CTM search checked on 18 October returned a CONFORT departure on 10 November 2026 at 08:30, arriving 11:30, from 105 MAD for one adult. This is a dated search example, not a final ticket total or a promise for your dates. Confirm luggage, ticket conditions and the exact boarding and arrival addresses. Add accommodation transfers and any airport journey separately. Keep day four for the complete move; a displayed three-hour coach journey is only part of that day.

Alternatives and omissions

If you depart from Marrakech, one option to verify is returning on day six and sleeping there before day seven’s departure. This replaces the second full Essaouira day; it is not an extra outing. The outline leaves out the north, mountains and desert.

Budget to work out before booking

Start with three nights in Marrakech and three in Essaouira, pricing the rooms needed by your whole party. Then price the arrival transfer, the Marrakech–Essaouira move and the departure transfer separately. Add meals for seven days only where they are not already included, checked visit costs and your own reserve. If you return to Marrakech on day six, replace one Essaouira night with a Marrakech night and add the return journey; do not count both overnight versions. Use the budget worksheet with your own complete quotes. The price examples below include a dated coach search; a complete accommodation and transport total for this route remains unverified.

Next steps

Read both destination guides, then check the actual arrival and departure arrangement. When a connection requires another travel day, change the outline rather than squeezing it into sightseeing time.
