Assumptions

This is a slow ten-day city pairing: four Tangier nights and five Fes nights, with arrival near Tangier and departure near Fes. It is not a circuit of every northern destination. The extra days allow repeat visits or personal time; transport, seasonal fit and access still need verification.

Your day-by-day outline

  1. Arrival

    Day 1 · Tangier

    Overnight: Tangier

Arrive, reach your accommodation and settle in. Keep the rest of the day open.

  2. Exploring

    Day 2 · Tangier

    Overnight: Tangier

Begin with the kasbah area. Choose a starting and finishing point with your host, then leave the afternoon open rather than adding an excursion outside the city.

  3. Exploring

    Day 3 · Tangier

    Overnight: Tangier

Explore the medina and Grand Socco at your own pace. Consider the Gardens of La Mendoubia as a separate option, after checking access.

  4. Exploring

    Day 4 · Tangier

    Overnight: Tangier

Keep a flexible Tangier day: revisit somewhere you enjoyed, spend time with people you know, or rest. An excursion outside the city needs a separate, verified transport plan.

  5. Travel day

    Day 5 · Fes

    Overnight: Fes

Move to Fes. Treat this as a travel day, including checkout, the journey and settling in. Confirm a workable service before reserving this sequence.

  6. Exploring

    Day 6 · Fes

    Overnight: Fes

Begin with a short medina orientation. Discuss a meeting point such as Bab Boujloud with your host and agree how you will find your way back.

  7. Exploring

    Day 7 · Fes

    Overnight: Fes

Choose one cultural visit to investigate, such as the Nejjarine Museum. Confirm admission and opening arrangements, then leave time for the surrounding area.

  8. Exploring

    Day 8 · Fes

    Overnight: Fes

Return to a part of the medina that interested you. If you arrange a craft-focused or guided visit, confirm the scope, fee and duration directly.

  9. Exploring

    Day 9 · Fes

    Overnight: Fes

Keep the last full day for a second look, a personal visit or rest. Check tomorrow’s departure arrangements before adding any activity outside Fes.

  10. Departure

    Day 10 · Fes

    Overnight: No overnight included

Leave space for your departure arrangements. This outline assumes departure near the final base; a return to your arrival airport needs extra time.

Transport and travel-time assumptions

Search Tanger Ville to Fes in ONCF Voyages for your date. ONCF’s published Al Boraq network information describes a connection at Kenitra for Fez, so check the complete journey rather than searching only for a train branded Al Boraq. Compare any options returned by their departure time, arrival time and number of changes. If a change is shown, record both trains and the station; ask ONCF about assistance or the connection if needed. Consult its works and traffic information before travelling. The live rail fare remains unverified. For comparison, a CTM coach search for one adult on 15 November 2026 showed 07:45–15:00, 7 hours 15 minutes, from 195 MAD. That is a different mode and timetable; do not enter the coach price as a rail cost. Confirm the full journey and boarding point for whichever option you choose.

Alternatives and omissions

If four nights in Tangier and five in Fes feel too long for your interests, shorten the stay. Adding Chefchaouen or another base would require a new transport and overnight plan. This outline does not cover southern Morocco or claim to represent all of the north.

Budget to work out before booking

Price four Tangier nights and five Fes nights for the actual rooms and travellers. Add your chosen Tangier–Fes journey: the complete rail connection or the coach service, plus travel between its actual departure and arrival points and your accommodation. Keep the arrival and departure transfers for the whole trip separate. Allow for meals across ten days where they are not included, visits you have priced and your own reserve. If you shorten a stay, remove the matching nights and allowances; if you add Chefchaouen, price a new overnight and transfer sequence before comparing totals. Use the budget worksheet with your own quotes. The dated coach example below is a starting fare for that search; a sample rail fare remains unverified.

Next steps

Read both destination guides, then check the actual arrival and departure arrangement. When a connection requires another travel day, change the outline rather than squeezing it into sightseeing time.
