Where should you arrive?
Choose your first and last base before comparing arrival options.

Work from the first and last night
Write the place you want to sleep on your first night and on your last night before searching for arrival options. A lower ticket price is not the whole comparison if it adds a journey or an overnight elsewhere. Keep the complete plan visible beside the fare.
Match the airport name and code
For the cities in our route outlines, compare these airport names and three-letter codes with the booking: Marrakech–Ménara (RAK), Essaouira–Mogador (ESU), Fès–Saïss (FEZ) and Tanger–Ibn Battouta (TNG). ONDA’s airport network identifies these pairings. Check both the arrival and departure airport before paying, then compare the onward journey to your actual accommodation. An airport code identifies the airport; it does not establish that a flight operates on your dates or that an airport-to-accommodation transfer is included.
Compare two complete versions
Version A returns to the arrival city. Version B leaves from a different departure point near the final base, if a suitable connection is available. For each version, note the ticket, luggage allowance, arrival-to-accommodation journey, last accommodation-to-departure journey and any extra night. Compare costs for the whole travelling party using the same currency.
Back to contentsTest the ending of the city-and-coast outline
Our Marrakech–Essaouira outline finishes in Essaouira and assumes you have arranged a suitable onward departure. If you must leave from Marrakech, replace the final exploration day with the return transfer and put the final overnight there. That changes both the accommodation split and the time on the coast. It is a route-planning example, not confirmation of a flight or road service.
Check the awkward hours
Look at the actual arrival and departure times before treating either version as settled. Ask the accommodation about check-in arrangements and confirm the journeys at the times you need them. Write down where you will wait if you arrive before check-in, and what the last night looks like before an early departure.
Work backwards from the airport deadline
A flight’s departure time is not the time to reach the airport. Find your operating airline’s check-in, bag-drop and boarding instructions, then work backwards through the journey from your last accommodation. Royal Air Maroc, for example, says passengers departing Morocco must visit its check-in counter even after checking in online. That is an airline-specific instruction: use the requirements for your own booking. Keep the airport journey separate from an intercity ticket and verify any final connection before fixing your last night.
Back to contentsSeparate the arrival point from the first base
An arrival city and a first overnight do not have to be the same, but write the connecting journey into the comparison explicitly. For example, if your preferred first base is Fes, compare an arrival that lets you stay there with an alternative that requires another journey before the first night. Leave that alternative unresolved until you have checked the connection and check-in arrangements. A convenient-looking point on a map is not a complete first day.
Agree whose arrival sets the timetable
For a group arriving separately, compare two options: everyone meets at the first accommodation, or the group waits and travels onwards together. Write each person’s arrival time beside the planned check-in and note who would be waiting where. Decide what happens if one person arrives later than expected. This may change your first-night choice even when everyone ultimately wants the same route; confirm any individual onward arrangements before relying on them.
Make the choice in one sentence
Complete this sentence: “I prefer this arrival and departure plan because it gives us ___, even though it costs us ___.” The trade-off might be another night, a longer transfer or less time in one base. If you cannot yet fill in both blanks, finish the missing transport research before booking.

- Royal Air Maroc: check-in conditions
Airline-specific guidance distinguishes airport arrival recommendations, check-in closure and gate closure, and requires counter attendance after online check-in when departing Morocco. Not a universal rule for other airlines or evidence of a route operating.
