Count nights and usable days separately
Seven calendar days usually mean six nights in the outline used here: arrive on day one and leave on day seven. Put your actual arrival and departure times beside those dates. A late arrival is still part of the trip, but it should not carry the same sightseeing plan as a full day.
Compare the days inside each base
The seven-day outline gives Marrakech two full exploration days and Essaouira two, with the move on day four. The ten-day outline gives Tangier three full days and Fes four, with the move on day five. Both reserve separate arrival and departure days. These suggested allocations include flexible days for revisiting or resting; they do not represent measured journey durations.
See what an extra base costs
In an illustrative seven-day plan, one arrival day, one departure day and one transfer day leave four full days. Give a second transfer its own day and three remain. The question is not only whether the extra place fits on a map: it is whether you prefer that new stop to the day you would spend in an existing base.
Back to contentsPut people and pauses on the calendar
A family lunch, a quiet day or an appointment uses the same time as a sightseeing day. Mark those commitments before filling the remaining spaces. If you have four exploration days and want two for family, build the sightseeing plan around the other two instead of treating all four as available.
Give a short stay one clear purpose
For example, two nights in Fes could mean arriving one evening, spending the next day exploring and leaving the following morning. That is one full day, not two. Choose the one experience you would most regret missing, then leave the rest as possibilities. If your main reason for visiting needs a second full day, add a night or remove a different base rather than expanding the arrival evening.
A return journey changes the allocation
The seven-day outline assumes departure near Essaouira. Returning to Marrakech on day six instead replaces a coastal exploration day with travel and changes the night split to four in Marrakech and two in Essaouira. The total remains six nights, but full exploration days fall from four to three. Check the connection and departure arrangements before adopting that version.
Back to contentsChoose the omission you can live with
Our seven-day outline leaves the north and desert out; the ten-day outline spends its extra time in Tangier and Fes instead of adding southern stops. Compare those choices with your priorities. If neither works, begin with one base and add a second only when you know what you are giving up.
